If you’re interviewing different interior painting companies in Denver, trying to decide which one to hire for your next painting job, one of the most important questions you can ask is whether the contractor is fully insured.
You’ll find that we are fully insured, with liability insurance coverage and Workers Compensation coverage.
Workers Comp coverage is required by law, and it covers employees in the event that they’re injured on the job. The Workers Comp coverage will pick up medical bills, as well as any wages lost due to injury.
However, just because Workers Comp is mandatory in Colorado doesn’t mean that all painting contractors carry it. Why does this matter to you? Because if the painting company you hire doesn’t have Workers Comp, and an employee gets injured on your property, you can be liable for the medical bills and lost wages. What might start out as a small interior paint job could turn into a big financial nightmare.
Liability insurance is not required by law in Colorado, but many homeowners associations in the Denver metro area require that contractors carry it if they’re going to be working in the condos, lofts, or townhomes that comprise the HOA.
You, too, should require it of your painting contractor. Liability insurance covers property damage and bodily injury, and if the painters you’re working with don’t have a robust, commercial liability policy, you could be on the hook, if something goes wrong.
